JLNS Presents: Little Black Dress Initiative

The Little Black Dress Initiative (LBDI) is an advocacy campaign that raises Community Awareness.  The Junior League of Napa-Sonoma (JLNS) is raising Awareness on the issue of Human Trafficking, not only in our own backyards but also across county lines, state boundaries, and international borders.

In January 2022, LBDI Advocates will wear the same black dress for five consecutive days to highlight the effects human trafficking can have on not only girls and women, but also boys and men.  By wearing a button that reads, “Ask me About my Dress,” Advocates invite dialogue among colleagues, friends, and strangers to publicize this delicate and important topic that isn’t much talked about.

WHAT IS Human Trafficking?
Human trafficking involves the use of force, fraud, or coercion to obtain some type of labor or commercial sex act. Human trafficking is an issue that is hard to track in areas because many human traffickers cross lines and borders.

The Junior League of Napa-Sonoma is committed to abolishing human trafficking in Napa and Sonoma counties, and through efforts like LBDI, we as an organization are able to provide critical education on this issue and raise money to effect change.
